Too right,it’s pathetic how people use shows like Skins and the OC to find music,considering most of them just like whichever song is used in it rather than actually getting into the band.Pretty pathetic.

Just totally amazing.
Sorry, accidenly pressed ‘Post comment’, but yeah, I gaurentee most people would have found this song through skins because they used this sound track in one of their episodes. Skins cult followers often chase down the songs they see in the episode for the plain reason that they’re good. And what with them being part of their cult, ofc they’re going to relate the song to the programme they’ve made a shrine to in their room.

you have to realize a song associated with a show or movie soundtrack is not inherently a bad thing. i wouldnt have discovered the shins if not for garden state, death cab if not for the OC. i didn’t just like one song, i went out to discover their whole respective catalogues. i’m sure there are kids who know grizzly bear from twilight, and skins plays tons of quality stuff like this song from time to time. if amazing music gets to reach a wider audience, that’s never a bad thing.

Skins exposes a mainstream audience to music they might not have heard otherwise. I don’t see how that’s sad, unless you think you and your friends “own” certain types of music. People discover music through all sorts of means, and it does not belong to you.

@g3og13+retrorave1511, Dinosaur Jr was a huge influence on Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana and that whole Seattle scene. They were the originals, with Sonic Youth and Husker Du.

@gp11g08 yeah I agree. Just learn to dislike that kind of behaviour, not the people, even if the people tend to be generally lame and unappealing and generic.
But what I want to sayy is that there ARE ppl who will sayy “I LOVE Muse!” cuz of that one song they played in that movie they love.
It’s great that they enjoy good music, but I think they just enjoy anything that sounds decent and is popular. So throw them “art” from a popular band and all of a sudden it sounds good.
